title: Test and iterate
description: Use a simple prototype or experiment to learn what helps people.

[CryptX 2.0 Designathon Workshop I: Designing for Impact](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S65lzQ6s5ig)

Before building a complete product, use a simple prototype to see whether an idea makes sense to people. The speaker recalls using paper prototypes to test a flow before writing code and recommends changing one small element at a time so the result is easier to interpret.

## Keep the test focused

Choose one change that follows from your hypothesis, then decide what you will measure. A button label or one part of a flow can be enough to test whether people feel clearer or more confident. Changing an entire page at once makes it harder to know what affected the result.

The talk uses “Reserve now, pay later” as an example of wording that can reduce uncertainty around a booking. It also discusses AI as a way to explore research, structure, and variations; empathy and judgment about people’s needs remain part of the designer’s work.

## Take the next step

Use the friction point, hypothesis, and sketches from the exercise to make a small prototype. Show it to someone who fits the audience, observe what they do, and use what you learn to decide what to change next.
